Learn the art of traditional hand-painted canalware! Delve into the rich history and techniques of Canal Folk Art.
Canal Folk Art is a rich and colourful tradition that flourished during the 19th century when working narrowboats in Britain were decorated with dreamy landscapes, featuring roses, castles, rivers and lakes.
In this 3-hour workshop, you will delve into the rich history and techniques of this beautiful but now endangered art form.
You’ll explore the traditional motifs, colour palettes and master the brush techniques that define Canal Folk Art.
We will practise with some basic exercises to get you comfortable with the materials and techniques before designing and painting your own unique masterpiece on a beautiful enamel cup to take home.
Materials will be provided, and your host Marie Charles will be on hand to guide you along the way.
Suitable for all abilities. For ages 16+.
