Join us for an online botanical illustration workshop and tour of the van Huysem exhibit at Strawberry Hill House.
Join us for an exciting evening online in collaboration with curators at the wonderful Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham and their exhibition of fabulous floral and botanical paintings by Dutch Golden Age master Jan van Huysum.
We will take in a leisurely online tour and talk about the work in the show and then begin channeling the gorgeous floral and botanical paintings in a Botanical Illustration workshop which will take you through some of the ideas and themes of van Huysum's work with artist and London Drawing tutor Susannah Pal
All you will need is some foliage, flowers or fruit to draw from and you are welcome to bring whatever materials you have to hand.
Susannah will demonstrate using graphite pencils, an eraser and coloured pencils. If all you have is a biro and a back of an envelope, you are welcome to join!
