Two Day Stained Glass Workshop - 24th & 25th May 2024

24 - 25 May 2024
10:00-17:00
£250

Join Claire Hart and Tracy Chamberlin in our two day Stained Glass Workshop. Combine the technique of glass painting with leading to create your own unique piece of glass.

At this workshop you’ll work with an expert tutor who will guide you through the process of designing and painting your own glass panel using enamel glass paint, and forming a bigger artwork pieced together using lead.

You begin your workshop by choosing your own panel design from a selection of patterns, known as ‘cartoons’. Then selecting the coloured glass to be painted, you will learn how to cut it to shape and your tutor will demonstrate how to size and score glass. The remainder of the day will be spent learning how to apply the enamel paint using different paint techniques. Finished pieces will be kiln fired at intervals throughout the day. During the second day, you will learn leading, glazing and soldering techniques that will enable you to assemble your cut glass pieces into a single stained glass panel. Your tutor will demonstrate how to frame your cartoon, forming a matrix into glass can be inserted. You will be taught how to cut lead calmes, and how to open up their central channel to accommodate cut glass. Once you have fixed all of your glass pieces in lead, you will be shown how to use a soldering iron to bond the joints of lead. Your tutor will help you solder a fixture to the lead. This is the final stage of the workshop, after which you will be able to take your stained glass panel home to enjoy!
