22 March 2024
18:00
£7

This talk will consider the life of the British born surrealist painter and novelist, Leonora Carrington (1917-2011) and why her work is so relevant in the 21st century.

Joanna Moorhead's work has featured in major exhibitions and she is credited with feminising surrealism as well as helping to found the women’s liberation movement in Mexico during the 1970s.

Joanna Moorhead, Leonora Carrington’s cousin and biographer, spent much time with the Surrealist artist in Mexico City in the last five years of her life, and since Carrington’s death in 2011 she has championed her legacy around the world. She talks about Leonora’s life, and why her work is so relevant in the 21st century
