In this workshop, you will explore wet felting methods, including resist techniques, to create a sample and then a larger wall hanging.
Discover the surprises of colour mixes and surfaces using a large range of dyed wool tops (including naturally dyed), layering different fleeces and textures. Extracting natural dyes and plant colours, including onion skins, madder, and indigo. This creative workshop is perfect for anyone interested in working with plant colour and 2D textiles in a slow, reciprocal way.
Ali will demonstrate the 2D felting process, blending coloured wool fibres and other materials to create painterly and textured effects. We will work predominantly with merino wool tops (loose wool fibres) but also incorporate other materials to create texture. Carding and blending of coloured fibres in preparation for the felting process is also demonstrated. All materials and equipment provided.
