‘Fascinating… ‘ – Sunday Times ‘A fascinating new history of homicide… ‘ – Daily Mail The crimes. The stories. The law. Join lawyer Kate Morgan as she explores the history of homicide, through the strange stories and mysterious cases that have shaped the law of murder in England down the centuries.
The stories and the people involved in the history of murder are stranger, darker and more compulsive than any crime fiction. Murder: The Biography is a gruesome and captivating portrait of the legal history of murder, told through the stories of the people – victims, killers, lawyers and judges – who unwittingly shaped the history of that most grisly and storied of laws.
Join lawyer and writer Kate Morgan on a dark, macabre journey as she explores some of these stories – the big corporate killers; the vengeful spouses; the sloppy doctors; the abused partners; the shoddy employers – each story a crime and each crime a precedent that has contributed to the law’s dark, murky and, at times, shocking standing.
Kate will also be signing copies of her book.
Kate Morgan worked as a senior in-house lawyer in the water industry before becoming a writer. Murder – The Biography (2021, HarperCollins) is Kate’s first book and is out in paperback now. Kate is a member of the Crime Writers’ Association and her writing has also appeared in the Slightly Foxed quarterly and professional legal journals.
