During this fast-paced, one-day workshop participants will be getting hands-on and inky with the age-old craft of letterpress.
This jam-packed workshop will cover all the basic information about how to set up printing presses, how to handle type, different inking techniques and effects and the fundamentals of design and composition with wood type, and of course, how to pull a print.
For the day, participants will have special access to Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft’s collection of antique wood type and pull unique designs on a vintage Farley proofing press. And, if time allows, the museum’s very own Stanhope press which is around 200 years old.
The vintage travel posters in Signs of the Seaside will form the inspiration for participants’ custom letterpress posters, that they can take home at the end of the day.
The more you see, the more we do.
