During this half-day workshop you will learn how to prepare and make a quarter bound, three sectioned sewn book using a combination of buckram and decorative papers with visible sewing on the spine. This book lies flat when open and is popular amongst other things as a journal, travel book or artist sketchbook, and makes a fabulous gift. Suitable for all levels of experience, particularly students new to bookbinding.
By the end of this course students should be able to: identify grain direction in paper and know its importance; cut, measure and punch binding material and paper accurately; and repeat this sewing procedure at home.
On completion of the workshop students will leave with a beautiful book along with full instructions and with the confidence to use the skills in creative and decorative ways at home.
The course cost includes materials and refreshments (tea and coffee). Please note that spaces are limited.
