Discover Sophie Ryder’s imaginary world of mystical beings at our major new solo show featuring the artist’s signature sculptures, works on paper, mosaics and textiles. The exhibition will highlight the acclaimed artist’s interest in the human body, her enduring connection to family and animals, and her fascination with hybrids. In Sophie Ryder’s imagined world two main hybrid characters emerge: the Ladyhare of the English countryside and its partner, the Minotaur of Greek mythology. Joined by the Ladyhare’s gentle horse and devoted dogs, this family of characters live on in the artist’s imagination and are transformed into art. The exhibition has been developed in collaboration with Sophie Ryder who is celebrating her 60th year, as The Lightbox celebrates its 15th birthday. The exhibition is supported by Hignell Gallery and sponsored by Bonhams.
