The collection at York Art Gallery ranges from 14th-century Italian panels and 17th-century Dutch masterpieces to Victorian narrative paintings and 20th-century works by LS Lowry and David Hockney. Highlights from the gallery’s outstanding collection of 20th-century ceramics are also on display in the new Gallery of Pots. The main ground floor gallery is used to house temporary exhibitions, ranging from a National Portrait Gallery touring show to a celebration of aspects of York Art Gallery’s own collection.
