Overview

London's Natural History Museum is hosting an exhibition of commended images from the 2011 Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. The exhibition is an international showcase of the best nature photography from the year, selected from tens of thousands of entries by an expert panel.

From stamping gorillas in the depths of the jungle to pheasants foraging in the Scottish snow, the photographs featured in the exhibition capture rarely-seen wonders of the natural world. Interactive stations will provide insights into the photographs from judges, scientists and photographers.

Daniel Beltrá's powerful image of oil-covered pelicans in Fort Jackson, Louisiana has been selected by the judges as this year's pick of the crop.

Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year is owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine.
