National Museum of the Royal Navy

One of the country's leading maritime museums, devoted to the story of the men and women of the Royal Navy.

Award-winning permanent galleries cover Nelson, his navy, HMS Victory and the Battle of Trafalgar. Highlights include the McCarthy Collection of Nelson memorabilia, WL Wyllie's Panorama of Trafalgar and an unrivalled collection of warship figureheads.

In 2014 a new gallery opened with an additional permanent display, HMS: Hear My Story which recounts the experiences of over 1,000 men and women in the Royal Navy over 100 years.

HMS Alliance – the only surviving British WWII era submarine also re-opened following a £7M conservation and restoration project. TVisitors are to go on board and meet a submariner to discover what life was like to live and work under the waves.

The museum complements a visit to HMS Victory and the other attractions in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
