The Museum of Somerset

The Museum of Somerset opened on 29 September 2011 following major redevelopment.

It tells the story of Somerset from its foundations 440 million years ago up to the present day. With many new galleries to explore, a large temporary exhibition gallery and extraordinary objects to discover, the museum will become a must-see visitor attraction for people from across Somerset and beyond. Among the new treasures on display is the Frome Hoard, the second largest collection of Roman coins ever discovered in Britain.
