This 19th-century former barracks displays fine and decorative art, the Story of Portsmouth, Football in the City, a collection of Arthur Conan Doyle material and, new for 2011, No Place Like Portsmouth, exploring the unique features of the city.
Temporary exhibitions for 2011-12 include Birds, Beasts and Bugs (until 6 January), then A Tale of One City to commemorate the bicentenary of Charles Dickens's birth in Portsmouth (7 February - December 2012).
