The first significant show for Peter Doig in Northern Ireland

The Mac will show a number of works from the early and mid-1990s. Hugh Mullholland, the show's curator, describes the works of this period as 'critical in positioning Doig as a major international artist', adding that the painter has been a 'profound influence' on young artists in Northern Ireland.
Painted at a time when Britart videos and installations dominated the headlines, these works asserted the continued relevance of painting and its ability to engage with the contemporary landscape.
