Rare hand-coloured versions of iconic works such as The Scream offer an insight into the technical processes Munch employed to achieve the emotive and often intense graphics for which he is renowned. The exhibition also recognises Munch's impact on Scottish artists including William Gillies and William MacTaggart following the artist's first solo exhibition in Edinburgh in 1931, in addition to his impact on contemporaries such as Max Beckmann, Otto Dix, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Wassily Kandinsky.
