Sixty items from the newly discovered Staffordshire Hoard are on temporary display, and a new gallery is planned to display the hoard permanently. The museum also houses a world-famous collection of pottery and porcelain, primarily from Staffordshire.

Displays explore the social history, landscape and geology of the Potteries, and include a Second World War Spitfire. The art collection includes prints by European and Japanese artists from the 16th century to the present day and oil paintings by leading British artists.
