Support from Trusts and Foundations makes an enormous difference to our work. We welcome the opportunity to build successful relationships with new partners. Support can be either for our core activity of supporting museums and galleries in acquiring works of art or for specific projects.
Organisations which support our core activity include:
The Wolfson Foundation
The Wolfson Foundation has generously supported us since 1977. Their grants, totalling over £ 2.9 million, have been part of a funding partnership which has enabled museums and galleries across the UK to acquire works of art. Recognising the exceptional need currently faced by museums and galleries wishing to acquire new works, the Foundation has increased its donation by 150% to £ 500,000 annually. This makes it our largest single regular donation.
You can see the great variety of works the Wolfson Foundation has generously supported on the ArtSaved section of our website.
Other regular supporters of our core grant giving include:
The Garfield Weston Foundation
The John Ellerman Foundation
The Ofenheim Charitable Trust
ShareGift
The 29th May 1961 Charitable Trust
Organisations which have supported specific projects include:
The Monument Trust
The Monument Trust has supported us since 1985 and our Regional Volunteering programme since 2003.
With the help of The Monument Trust we have been able to develop our regional volunteering network. Part of the development has been a national training programme for all our volunteers. The project has helped to strengthen our volunteer network as well as our relations with regional museums and galleries. Additionally, funds raised through Volunteer committees have since increased significantly.
The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation
The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation has supported the Art Fund since 1975.
The Foundation supported us in our project to assist acquisitions in Northern Ireland (2002-2005) which aimed at making grant giving-policy more active in that region.
The Foundation also supported us to fund The Collecting Challenge: The Art Fund Museum Survey 2006, a research project in which over 300 museums from across the UK took part. It is the most authoritative study of UK collecting activity to date.
More recently the Foundation has assisted us in supporting regional museums and galleries through our Enriching the Regions Scheme. The scheme is a funding initiative designed to boost regional museum and gallery collections.
There are many ways in which Trusts and Foundations can support the Art Fund. For more information on how to support us please contact Amy Ross, Director of Development, on 020 7225 4860.
