Receding hairline and black beard blending into chest. Behind and to right is a marble column and a heraldic shield is in the upper left of the painting. This work was acquired with assistance from the Wolfson Foundation.
Wernher Collection, Luton Hoo; purchased by Sir Julius Wernher, Agnew's, 1898; bought from Haskard & Son 1898 from the collection of Prince Colonna. Possibly: descent through Doria Principe D'Angri to Giovanna Lancellotto - married Ferdinando Colonna.
