Pickford's House Museum

Derbyshire

Free to all  |  Full venue & entry details

Joseph Pickford (1734–82) was a leading Georgian architect, and a friend of Joseph Wright of Derby. He designed this house, and the dining, drawing and morning rooms, bedroom and dressing room are presented as they might have been when he and his family lived here. Life below stairs is illustrated by the reconstructed kitchen and laundry, cellar, pantry and housekeeper’s cupboard. Other highlights are toys and toy theatres, and the museum’s excellent collection of historic costumes and textiles.
