Art Fund responds to arts funding inquiry, 1st September 2010
The Art Fund has today responded to the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee inquiry into arts and heritage funding.
Landmark new sculpture for Dulwich, 1st September 2010
On 14 September the Dulwich Picture Gallery will unveil a new, permanent sculpture in its grounds. Walking the Dog by acclaimed artist Peter Randall-Page is being presented to the Gallery by us to mark its 2011 bicentenary. It is the first contemporary sculpture to be acquired for Dulwich - the UK's first public art gallery.
Leeds displays major Frink sculpture, 25th August 2010
Birdman, a life-size sculpture by acclaimed artist Elisabeth Frink (1930 - 1993) has gone on display at Leeds Art Gallery. Valued at £250,000, the unique plaster maquette was given to Leeds through the Art Fund by the Frink Estate and Beaux Arts London.
Dramatic painting capturing World War Two horrors acquired for Ben Uri, 24th August 2010
London's Ben Uri Gallery has acquired a dramatic watercolour by distinguished German artist George Grosz. Entitled Interrogation, the painting captures the horrors of the Second World War.
Wales acquires important Venetian painting, 23rd August 2010
Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales has purchased an important painting by the 18th century Italian artist Francesco Guardi. View of the Palazzo Loredan dell'Ambasciatore on the Grand Canal, Venice (oil on panel, 24.3 x 35.5cm) was bought with our help.
