The Whitworth Art Gallery, part of the University of Manchester, is home to internationally renowned collections of modern art, textiles, watercolours, prints, drawings and sculpture.
Created in 1908 as the first English gallery in a park, the Whitworth is now to be transformed by a £12 million development, including £8 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund for a new park-facing extension, sculpture garden, new gallery spaces and learning suites.
