Application Procedures
For all applications you must complete an application form, requiring you to
provide:
- a description of the object
- information regarding condition and provenance
- an image of the work
- an independent valuation
- an explanation of the work's significance to your collection
- a description of other funding you are seeking, and the amount you would
like from The Art Fund
Please attach any supporting information before submitting your
application.
Application checklist
Before submitting your application form, please check that you
have:
- discussed your application with the Grants Office and confirmed the
relevant meeting dates and deadlines
- completed all sections of the form
- provided a conservator’s report if the condition is less than
excellent
- attached the required image (for works being sold at auction please
discuss the requirements with the Grants Office)
- submitted an independent valuation. The valuer must not be aware
of the asking price. (Not Applicable for works being sold at auction)
- provided full details of the provenance of the object
- applied for all appropriate sources of public funding for which you may be
eligible
- read our terms and conditions and How to Acknowledge your
Grant and ensured that your Director has confirmed that you can comply
with our requirements.
If you need to submit an urgent application for a work at auction please
contact the Grants Office as soon as possible. In addition, for such sales
please ensure that you have:
- taken advice on your bid level
- included the buyer's premium, VAT (where applicable) and bidder’s
commission (where applicable) in your funding package
- discussed photographic requirements with the Grants Office
We operate different schemes depending on the size of your
grant. We also consider short notice applications for works being sold at
auction.
