Current Grant Holders

As a grant recipient we expect you to comply with our Grant Conditions.

The Art Fund receives no government or lottery funding, and instead raises its funds from the support of individual members of the public who join our membership scheme. If we are to continue to be able to support museums with grants for acquisitions, we need to increase our member and supporter base, and to do that more museum visitors need to be aware of who we are, understand the importance of the work that we do in funding acquisitions for museums, and be encouraged to help us by joining.

As we do not display the works of art for which we give grants ourselves, we rely on the museums which we support to help in promoting our membership to the public.  Museums are our point of contact with people who are most interested in our cause, and we are very grateful for everything they can do to help us increase our support, which in turn enables us to increase our support to them. This is why it is so important that museums honour our straightforward conditions when they receive a grant.

There are three key areas where we need co-operation:

  • free admission for our members to your museum
  • making a permanent acknowledgement of our help
  • collaborating over publicity and promotional work

For details of our key grant conditions and contacts please see the links to the left of the screen. A copy of our Full Conditions is attached to your application form, on the back of your Grant Contract.

We have a range of materials available to help you to promote the Art Fund to your visitors. Please contact our Marketing Department for more information.
