Gawthorpe Hall

Lancashire

Free entry with National Art Pass  |  Full venue & entry details

Gawthorpe Hall was built for the Shuttleworth family in 1605, remaining virtually untouched until the mid-19th century, when it was sympathetically remodelled by Sir Charles Barry and AW Pugin. The house has many original features – ornate plasterwork ceilings, panelling, paintings from the National Portrait Gallery and the internationally renowned Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth textile collection, recently redisplayed.
