The Cartoon Museum exhibits original British cartoons, caricature and comic art from the 18th century to the present day. There are over 230 works on display ranging from political cartoons and caricatures to social observation cartoons and straightforward gags, as well as original comic pages.

The main gallery shows a changing display of highlights, from the history of satirical prints, cartoons and comics from Hogarth, through Gillray and Cruikshank, to Punch artists such as Tenniel and May. There are examples by leading 20th-century artists, such as David Low and Giles. Contemporary cartoonists are also on show including Steve Bell, Matt and Peter Brookes. There are also favorite comics and cartoon strips including Desperate Dan and Dennis the Menace.
