Four flexible exhibition spaces displaying visual and decorative art and design alongside permanent displays from the city’s collections. The huge Special Exhibitions Gallery hosts visiting exhibitions of national and international importance including many from the V&A and Tate. The Craft and Design Gallery hosts changing contemporary and retrospective exhibitions.

The Ruskin Gallery houses the Guild of St George Collection of drawings, watercolours and natural history exhibits, and one of the largest holdings of ornithological prints outside London, as well as medieval illuminated manuscripts, bronze medallions, plaster casts and minerals. The Metalwork Gallery is home to Sheffield’s internationally important collection of domestic and decorative metalwork and silverware. Discover how the industry grew in Sheffield and see products designed and made by the city’s skilled craftsmen, including an enormous 18th-century turtle soup tureen and a unique gold cup from 1929.
