Known as No.1 London, Apsley House was built in 1771-8 and has been the home of the Dukes of Wellington since 1817. The interior is filled with the magnificent art collection of the 1st Duke, and is largely arranged as it was then, against silk wall hangings and lavish gilt decoration.
