The Royal Research Ship Discovery was built in Dundee for the 1901-04 British National Antarctic Expedition led by Captain Scott. The Discovery Point museum interprets the history of the ship, her expeditions and the men who served on her.
Collections include costume, numismatics, fine art, arms and armour, archives, science, photographs and social history. Items vary from navigational instruments and scientific specimens collected on the ship's expeditions to objects belonging to polar explorers, including wooden skis, sledging equipment, fine quality expedition crockery and cutlery for use in the officers' wardroom and some of the original food rations and games used for amusement during the long, dark Antarctic winters.
