Contains 17th to 20th-century paintings, watercolours and drawings, mainly accumulated by mine-owner Samuel Joshua Cooper on his Grand Tour in the 1850s. Notable artists within the collection include JMW Turner, John Ruskin, Edward Lear, John Atkinson Grimshaw and Jean Leon Gerome.
