Christchurch Mansion holds the biggest collection of paintings by Constable and Gainsborough outside London, displayed in period room settings ranging from the sumptuous Georgian saloon with fine oak furniture, carvings, longcase clocks and ceramics to a humble Victorian wing with childrens’ toys and doll's houses. The unique Hawstead Panels feature images derived from emblem books and have been the subject of much research. The collections include local Suffolk artists and those inspired by the landscape of East Anglia, such as George Frost, John Moore, Thomas Churchyard and members of the Ipswich Art Club.
