Chiswick House is one of the most glorious examples of 18th-century British architecture. Inspired by his Grand Tour of Italy, the 3rd Earl of Burlington designed this elegant classical villa and gardens. As a promoter of the Palladian style, Burlington sought to re-create the kind of villa and garden found in the suburbs of ancient Rome.
