A 700 year-old marcher fortress, later transformed into a comfortable family home. The Castle retains its medieval dungeon and garderobes, as well as architecture from more peaceful times. The interiors include Baroque carving, neoclassical and Pugin's Neo-Gothic decoration. Highlights include an 18th-century Shudi harpischord, a collection of 17th-century armour and firearms, and an important private library containing many rare books.
