This 17th-century country house was from 1916 the country retreat and home of the artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant and their unconventional household. Influenced by Post-Impressionists like Cézanne, they took painting beyond the canvas, decorating walls, doors and furniture, ceramics and textiles, and transforming the house itself into a work of art.
The walled garden is filled with dazzling flowers, sculptures, mosaics and ponds. Other members of the Bloomsbury Group stayed here, including Virginia and Leonard Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, EM Forster, Lytton Strachey, Roger Fry and Clive Bell. Today, Charleston is the only complete example of the domestic decorative art of Bell and Grant anywhere in the world, its rooms encapsulating their pioneering, creative and bohemian life.

I am very interested in highlighting artist's works on my highly popular Charleston web site which focuses on high-end and historic real estate in the greater Charleston, South Carolina locale. I believe this work as well as others would be lovely. I'd be delighted to pay special credit to the artist(s). Please review our site http://www.charlestonhomelistings.com I'm looking forward to promoting some of these wonderful works. Eve Olasov, Luxury Land and Homes, Inc.

I found your site as I was searching for "Charleston Art" on Google. Wonderful work. I am a bit of a collector and I appreciate the work that you are doing. Since I am here in Charleston, SC, it is easy to appreciate even more the art you have here. I would love to do what I can with my website which is focused on Charleston Real Estate. Becca Hodges
