Bristol's City Museum and Art Gallery is the major museum of the area, with collections and displays representing applied, fine and Eastern art, archaeology, ethnography, geology and natural history. The collections of geology, Eastern art, Bristol history and English delftware have been designated as of national importance. A new Egyptian gallery opened in 2007.
