Dating from 1688, Wallington, the much loved home of the Trevelyan family, is set in acres of beautiful parkland and gardens. The retrained Palladian exterior gives way to the magnificent rococo plasterwork of the interior and the stunning Central Hall.
Decorated to look like an Italian Courtyard, it was heavily influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and displays a series of famous scenes of Northumberland history by William Bell Scott. Also on display are fine collections of ceramics, needlework, doll’s houses, the Cabinet of Curiosities and a set of 3,800 lead soldiers. Additionally, Wallington boasts a Walled Garden and Edwardian Conservatroy that display diverse plantlife. The wider woodland walks encompass lakes, sculptures and a wildlife hide.
