The Walker Art Gallery is one of the finest galleries in Europe. For over 130 years it has housed Liverpool's outstanding collections, which date from the 14th century to the present day. It is particularly rich in Old Masters, Victorian (particularly Pre-Raphaelite) pictures and modern British works. The Walker is home to the John Moores Exhibition, Britain's biggest national open show for contemporary painting.
