The third most important city of Roman Britain, Verulamium flourished from AD 50 until 440. An absence of medieval or later urban developments, Verulamium is of national archaeological importance. The site museum houses a collection of late Iron Age and Roman archaeology; the objects range from mosaics to pottery and metalwork.
