Among the archaeological and artistic holdings is a major collection of fine and decorative arts. The museum is particularly famous for its Pre-Raphaelite pictures, with a major collection of works by Birmingham-born artist Sir Edward Burne-Jones. There is a varied temporary exhibitions programme in the Gas Hall and Waterhall galleries.
