Sudley House, home of the magnificent art collection of ship-owner George Holt, reopened in May 2007 following a £1 million refurbishment and includes many new attractions. It houses the only art collection of a Victorian merchant still in its original domestic setting, including works by Gainsborough, Turner, Reynolds, Romney, Landseer, Millais and Holman Hunt.
The new attractions to the house feature an introductory display that gives an insight into the Holt family, two childhood rooms that explore how Victorian children learned and played, a costume room with changing displays of period costume and a temporary exhibition gallery.
