Displays include local archaeological, social, fine art and craft, natural history, archive and photographic collections. Of particular interest is the fine art, craft and memorabilia collections relating to Kirkcudbright's artistic community, especially by Jessie M King, EA Taylor and WM (Bill) Johnston.
Additionally the Stewartry Museum provides information services for family and local history research.
