The museum includes a new permanent display showing highlights from the collection, including Bronze Age archaeology, medieval pilgrim badges, a 19th-century banner and paintings by James McIntosh Patrick and Sir David Wilkie. Visitors can also put their heads under a 17th-century executioner’s axe. A wide range of temporary exhibitions are held throughout the year.
