The museum illustrates the life, work and personality of Dr Samuel Johnson, Lichfield's most famous son, from childhood upheaval and journalistic obscurity to international fame as a lexicographer and dinner-table wit. The reconstructed rooms display books, personal items, manuscripts, furniture and paintings.
