Opened in 1953 by Walter Beecroft, a local solicitor and collector of paintings, and houses fine permanent collections of both fine art and historic costume. Highlights include Constable's painting 'On the Stour' and Henry Bright's 'Hadleigh Castle'. Dutch and Flemish Old Masters and a fine selection of Victorian paintings of the local area are shown in temporary displays throughout the year.
