Abbot Hall Art Gallery, a Georgian house, holds collections that include portraits by George Romney and Daniel Gardner, watercolours and drawings by John Ruskin, and furniture by Gillows of Lancaster. The gallery also displays changing exhibitions from a permanent collection of British mid 20th-century fine and decorative art, including works by Kurt Schwitters.
