Originally a 16th-century house, Osterley was transformed by Robert Adam in the late 18th century for the Child family, founders of Child's Bank. The Neoclassical villa contains one of the country's most complete examples of Adam's work; the contrasting interior styles reflect Adam's architectural development. The rooms still contain the furniture Adam designed.
