One of the city’s most famous landmarks, the castle is home to collections of fine art, archaeology and natural history. The Norwich School is particularly well represented in the galleries, along with Lowestoft porcelain, Norwich silver and the world’s largest collection of ceramic teapots; there are also regular touring exhibitions from national galleries. The castle’s story is traced in the Norman keep, including its origin as a royal palace and its use as a prison. East Anglia’s history is celebrated in the Boudicca, Anglo-Saxon and Viking galleries, which display collections of gold and local treasures.
