One of the city’s most famous landmarks, Norwich Castle is home to outstanding collections of fine art, archaeology and natural history. In the magnificent Norman keep, the story of the Castle’s history unfolds, charting its origins as a Royal Palace through to its use as a prison. East Anglia’s Iceni queen is celebrated in the Boudica Gallery where there are breathtaking displays of Celtic gold.

The Anglo-Saxon and Viking Gallery reveals what life was like in East Anglia after the Romans, with wonderful Viking treasures – all of which were found locally. The art galleries are an impressive showcase for the best collection anywhere of paintings by the Norwich School of Artists and Lowest Porcelain. Displays also include Norwich silver and the world’s largest collection of ceramic teapots. Regular touring exhibitions bring world-class art to the city from national galleries such as Tate and the British Museum.
