Built in 1724-29 for Henrietta Howard, the Countess of Suffolk and mistress of George II, this villa is an important example of the English Palladian style. The house is set in 66 acres running down to the Thames and its interior, exquisitely restored and recreated, contains a fine collection of early 18th-century paintings and furniture.
