Described by The Times as having ‘probably the best collection of 20th-century British art outside London’, Leeds Art Gallery features works by many eminent figures in various media, including watercolours, paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints. Contemporary artists represented include Paula Rego, Bridget Riley, Georgina Starr, Tony Cragg, Antony Gormley, Francis Bacon, and there are fine examples by well-known figures who hail from the region – among them Henry Moore, Dame Barbara Hepworth, Atkinson Grimshaw, and Jacob Kramer. Recent investment has resulted in a new floor and multi-media gallery, and re-opening of the Victorian Tiled Hall linking the gallery to Leeds Central Library.
