The Laing Art Gallery’s impressive permanent collection includes British and European paintings, sculpture, prints and drawings. Highlights among the rich array of 19th-centruy British paintings include John Martin’s The Bard and William Holman Hunt’s painting of Isabella and the Pot of Basil. The Laing’s collections also feature Northeast arts and crafts, as well as general decorative arts, costume and textiles, and Oriental arts.
